IGEL - The Program

Through a multi-session program that takes place in various locations around the state, participants are actively exposed to the vast potential and pressing environmental concerns in all regions of Georgia. The program emphasizes hands-on learning techniques and opportunities to master new skills through practice. Sessions include leadership development with regards to current environmental issues, emerging environmental challenges, environmental problem solving, communication skills, and conflict management.

The tuition fee covers instruction, materials, lodging and in-session meals. Partial scholarships are available. One hundred percent attendance is required, and participants must dedicate time to reading materials in preparation for each session.

IGEL qualifies as an elective program for the Certified Commissioner Advanced Training Program for the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG). IGEL functions as a statewide networking and information vehicle made possible through alumni events. The class of 2010 will bring our alumni to more than 300 members.
