Selecting the Ideal Class

2015 IGEL ClassEach IGEL class consists of 30-35 participants selected through an application review. Participants are proven leaders who represent Georgia’s economic, ethnic, geographic and institutional diversity. We seek individuals from a wide range of professions, interests, political viewpoints and experiences.

  • The IGEL application process begins mid August for the following year’s program, which begins the following May.
  • The application period ends mid October
  • A selection committee, consisting of IGEL graduates and members of its Board of Directors, review all applications to select 30-35 participants in the next IGEL program.
  • If you are selected to join the next IGEL class, you will be notified by email and written letter by mid NovemberRead the cancellation policy.
  • If you completed an IGEL application last year and would like to be considered for the upcoming class, we ask that you complete a new application as additional information may be requested. If you would like a copy of your previous application, please email (mnuttall@gsu.edu) with your current contact information, and we will be happy to forward it to you.
  • Classes begin mid May.
  • By applying, you are agreeing that you understand the goals of IGEL and that you are required to attend all 5 sessions of the IGEL program. IGEL's goals are:
    • Fostering a deeper understanding of Georgia's environmental issues;
    • Providing a safe forum for participants to explore each other's views and motivations; and
  • Engaging participants in key aspects of leadership, such as creative problem solving; and conflict resolution, building trust and enhancing communication skills.
