IGEL Welcomes Class 2010

The Board and Alumni of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership (IGEL) are pleased to welcome thirty-four leaders from agriculture, forestry, business, education, environmental organizations, government, and civic groups who have been selected to participate in IGEL Class 2010. The 2010 class will join the ranks of 244 environmental leaders from across the state who have previously completed the program.

IGEl Summit Celebrates Class 2009 and Welcomes Class 2010

On January 20, 2010, Katie Kirkpatrick, Chair of the IGEL, Inc. Board, welcomed over 75 IGEL alumni, recent graduates of Class 2009 and incoming members of Class 2010 to the Southface Energy Institute for an afternoon of workshops and an evening reception. The event kicked off a new emphasis on connecting our growing alumni group and providing additional opportunities to experience the IGEL program.

IGEL Alum is New GDOT board member

Steve Gooch, IGEL Class IV participant, and former county commission chairman from North Georgia has been elected to represent the 9th Congressional District on the State Transportation Board. Steve, of Dahlonega, GA, was chosen on the second ballot by state lawmakers from the 9th District, which runs from Hall and Forsyth counties north and west across northwestern Georgia.

Spud Woodward (IGEL Class V) to be Director for Georgia’s Coastal Resources Division-GA DNR

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has appointed A.G. "Spud" Woodward (IGEL Class V) director of the DNR Coastal Resources Division effective Dec. 1. The Coastal Resources Division of Georgia DNR manages Georgia’s coastal marshes, beaches, waters and fisheries.
