Steve Gooch, IGEL Class IV participant, and former county commission chairman from North Georgia has been elected to represent the 9th Congressional District on the State Transportation Board.  Steve, of Dahlonega, GA, was chosen on the second ballot by state lawmakers from the 9th District, which runs from Hall and Forsyth counties north and west across northwestern Georgia.

Steve defeated two other candidates to succeed former board member Steve Farrow of Dalton, GA, who resigned in August.

He served two terms on the Lumpkin County Commission, as the sole commissioner from 2001-2004 and as chairman of an expanded five-member commission from 2005 until the end of last year.  Before that, he served with the Lumpkin Chamber of Commerce and on the county’s water and sewer authority.
